Postdoctoral Position at Queen's University

Qualified applicants are being sought for a postdoctoral position within the Software Evolution & Analytics Lab (SEAL) at Queen’s University under the supervision of Dr. Ying Zou, a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Software Evolution. We seek a candidate with interest in applied research which can easily be adopted by practitioners. A PhD in Software Engineering or a comparable qualification is required.

The successful candidate must have a good research record with publications in relevant international conferences and journals in one or more of the following software engineering areas:

  • Empirical Studies
  • Mining Software Repositories
  • Data Mining
  • Machine Learning Algorithms
  • Program Analysis
  • Software Debugging, Monitoring and Testing
  • Software Maintenance and Evolution

The position is for two years, with the possibility of extension. Good communication skills and willingness to work in a team are essential. The candidate is expected to have an active role in various collaboration efforts with other universities and industry, both at the national and international level. The applicant will be encouraged to pursue their own interests and will also participate in the lab's projects.

SEAL is part of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. SEAL is internationally recognized for its research work in software engineering, software evolution, mining software repositories, empirical studies and service-oriented computing. The members in SEAL have published research papers in the high impact venues in the field, including the IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE), Journal of Empirical Software Engineering (EMSE), IEEE Transactions on Services Computing (TSC), and ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology (TOSEM) as well as the field's most prestigious conferences, such as IEEE/ACM International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE), and IEEE International Conference on Mining Software Repositories (MSR). Some of the former PhD and Postdoctoral Fellows from SEAL become tenure-track or tenured professors in Canada, USA and New Zealand.

SEAL has several research projects in progress and the candidate will be matched with the project(s) which best suits their interest and qualifications. Early tools and techniques developed by SEAL members are already integrated in industrial products and filed for patents.
